This large, decorative plate is made from spun bamboo, (a renewable resource). The plate measures 18" in diameter and comes with a matching stand. The plates are entirely hand crafted by artisans who cut bamboo into thin strips, then curve them layer by layer into the round shape. The piece is then carefully sanded to a smooth surface, over which several layers of black lacquer are applied. Next, hand picked shards of Mother of Pearl are inset to form a concentric open circle symbolizing the ever flowing energy of life. Following this process, many layers of clear lacquer are applied as a protective finish. Truly a work of art. Makes a stunning accent piece for any room.
To clean, just wipe with damp cloth and dry.
