Here we have our 18" Black Lacquer & Eggshell Decorative Plate & Stand. The base plate is hand crafted from spun bamboo (a renewable resource) is painted with layers of black lacquer, over which cracked eggshells are carefully applied into the shape of the yin-yang symbol of harmony. Following this process, many layers of lacquer are applied as a protective finish. Plate measures 18" in diameter, and comes with 18" tall display stand. Truly a work of art.
The Yin-Yang depicts the ebb & flow of opposites, male and female energies, in the circle of life. Yin, the feminine energy, represents the moon, with its darker more mysterious side, and Yang, the male force is symbolized by the light of the sun, an open and more aggressive energy; both are integral halves of the whole.
